I was born and raised in South Carolina, and moved to the Upstate to study German and Spanish and compete as a D1 runner at USC Upstate. During my time there I met my husband Jahn, became an avid gardener, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. After graduation, I began a career as a public-school teacher.

Over 9 years of experience in the classroom, I built public and private partnerships, regularly engaged with the community, and worked closely with parents from all walks of life to ensure the best education for their children. Through this work I have developed strong skills in community organization, collaboration, presentation, communication, active listening, conflict resolution and creativity.

In my second career as an environmental health and safety scientist I focus on workplace safety and pollution at manufacturing sites. I now work on projects such as water treatment, (air, water, chemical) pollution control and regulations. Through this training I have developed skills in economics, resource recovery, management, mathematics and safety. This will allow me to analyze complex issues and address important questions regarding county utilities, growth, infrastructure, and development planning.

I love cleaning things up & am not afraid to roll my sleeves up and get to work! I plan on bringing this courage and my skillset as an educator and scientist to serve district 22 as a leader for the people.
